Invited to participate in the "Tous les cinéma du monde" section, Switzerland is represented at the 59th Cannes Film Festival with three fiction features and a programme of nine shorts to be screened today at the International Village.

Serge Sobczynski, head of the section, chose a selection of films emblematic of the renaissance in Swiss cinema, including Stupid Boy by Lionel Baier (Saga Production), a big hit in France where it was first released; Verflixt verliebt by Peter Luisi (Spotlight Media Productions, Zurich), whose humour impressed Sobczynski; and the detective film Strähl by Manuel Flurin Hendry (Dschoint Ventschr Filmproduktion, Zurich), which surprised the section head as he thought it was impossible to make genre films in Switzerland.

Meanwhile, Baier has just finished production of his second feature Comme des voleurs (Saga Production, Lausanne), and Luisi finished production last year in Los Angeles of his new romantic comedy with the working title Love Made Easy (Presence Production, Zurich).
