Georg tells the life story of Estonia’s most famous and celebrated singer Georg Ots (1920-1975). The extremely talented artist remained unknown on opera stages around the world, except in Russia and Finland where he was adored as much as in his home country. Well-known Estonian actor Marko Matvere, who served as MC for the 2002 Eurovision Song Contest in Tallinn, will play the lead.

Based on a script by Mati Pöldre and Aleksandr Borodjanski, the film will be directed by one of Estonia’s most established filmmakers, Peeter Simm (Fed Up!), with Igor Kozhevnikov as DoP and Kalju Kivi as artistic director. Production will start next August with the expected release date set for autumn 2007.
