Carole Sheridan joins Scottish Screen

Carole Sheridan has been appointed head of Talent and Creativity for Scottish Screen, replacing Claire Chapman who will soon leave the agency to head up the UK Film Council's new US office.
Sheridan, who will take up her new position on July 3, has been with the agency for the last five years and was most recently deputy head of Talent and Creativity. Commenting on Sheridan’s promotion, Scottish Screen CEO Ken Hay said: "We are very lucky to have someone with Carole's skills, experience and credibility already within the organization. She has been responsible for supporting some highly innovative projects over the last few years, such as the low budget features Night People and Gamerz, and for developing projects such as Andrea Arnold's Red Road [+see also:

, David Mackenzie's latest feature, Hallam Foe, and Alec and May, recently acquired by Miramax”.

Established in 1997, the agency has an annual budget of £6m for the development and promotion of Scotland’s screen industries, including £3m of National Lottery Funds. With over 100 Scottish-based production companies and more than 300 facilities companies generating a turnover of £1.2 billion (€1.7bn) per year, production activity in Scotland is the highest in the UK outside London.
