Eleven young European directors have been chosen by three Variety film critics to present their films in the Karlovy Vary sidebar section Variety Critics' Choice: Europe Now.

The initiative, organised in close collaboration with European Film Promotion and supported by the EU Media Programme, will take place on July 2-3.

Already in its eighth edition, Variety Critics' Choice: Europe Now has firmly established itself as one of the most popular sections among Karlovy Vary’s young audiences and has contributed to higher international visibility of the films presented.

"As an A-festival, the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival offers an excellent platform to market our film internationally", said ICAA's Deputy Director Pilar Torre. "The presentation, as well as the selection and promotion by Variety, is the best publicity and draws the attention of the international film industry and the public to the film and its director.

Six out of the eleven films in the programme are directorial debuts, including Yorgos Noussias's Evil (Greece), Joona Tena's FC Venus [+see also:
