The other Italians at the festival

by

Besides Roberta Torre and Enrico Pau in official competition and Maurizio Sciarra in the Piazza Grande (see news), there will be other Italians at the upcoming Locarno Film Festival.

The Filmmakers of the Present competition section features Schopenauer by Giovanni Davide Maderna, produced by Invisible Film, and Sotto la luna di Scampia (lit. “Under the Scampia Moon”) by Carlo Luglio (produced by Figlidelbronx).

The former tells the story of two students, a man and a woman, in search of the illuminating thoughts of a philosopher who has withdrawn to the countryside, while the latter interweaves the paths of an ex-boss of the Neapolitan Camorra just released from prison with the two young men who replaced him and two Rom nomads struggling to survive far from prison.

Alessandro Rossetto’s documentary Feltrinelli is yet another competition title. This co-production between Eskimosa with Switzerland and Germany (Dschoint Ventschr Filmproduktion AG, Pandora Film) offers a portrait of the historical publishing company founded by Giangiacomo Feltrinelli through interviews with great writers.

Out of competition, there will also be Corso Salani’s Il peggio di noi (Balaton Film), Camicie verdi (NoBu Production) by Claudio Lazzaro and Joseph Peaquin’s Il était une fois... les délices du petit monde.

The short film section Play Forward features Il mondo non è un panorama and 10 Insects to Feed by Masbedo.
