European Grand Prix for debut films

Once every two years, the Festival international de cinéma et de photographie Images in Vevey recognises films by directors who have recently graduated from European film schools with the Grand Prix for debut films.

The 2006 edition (September 14-18) will show films made by three winners: Marathon Tonton Jules Jules César by Nadège de Benoît-Luthy (Switzerland), Ajudas by Julie Frères (Belgium) and The Leafcatcher by Leo Sedgley (UK).

Murer (see Focus) or Melodias by François Bovy, the festival will focus on Swiss films, while also presenting the first two parts of the trilogy Profils paysans by France’s Raymond Depardon and two films by UK director Terence Davies – Distant Voices Still Lives (1988) and The Long Day Closes (1992) – in a section entitled "Maisons monde”.
