The sure highlight of this week’s new releases in Belgium is Lucas Belvaux’s recent title The Weakest Is Always Right [+see also:

Co-produced by Entre Chien et Loup and produced by France’s Agat Films & Cie, the director’s regular partner, the film tells of an event filmed in the Liège region that marks the return of a prodigal son. This is Belvaux’s first film made in Belgium and it is also his most personal film, the director says.

With its successful selection at Cannes in Official competition (see article and interview with director) and positive reviews from critics, the film is being distributed by Cinéart in 10 theatres nationwide.

ABC Distribution is releasing two big European successes on Belgian screens this week. Oskar Roehler’s Elementary Particles [+see also:
