Reprise wins Diesel Discovery Award

by

Joachim Trier’s feature debut Reprise received the DIESEL Discovery Award at the closing ceremony of the Toronto International Film Festival last Saturday. The award, which comes with a $10,000 (€7,888) cash prize, is given by 900 international film journalists accredited at the festival.

For the creative duo, filmmaker Trier and co-writer Eskil Vogt, who kindly attended every post-screening Q&A session in Toronto, the DIESEL award comes only two months after the film’s double win in Karlovy Vary (Crystal Globe for Best Director and the Don Quixote Award).

The film about two young men whose shared dream of becoming writers is trampled upon by the harsh face of reality was also warmly received by the Norwegian press prior to the film’s domestic release on September 8 through Columbia Tri Star/Nordisk Film Distributors. In its first week, the film was the fourth most popular film at the box office, with over 13,000 admissions.

Reprise was produced by Karin Julsrud for 4½ Productions, in co-production with Filmlance International in Sweden. Nordisk Film International Sales is handling worldwide sales.
