EU Official Journal publishes decision on MEDIA 2007

Decision No. 1718/2006/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of November 15, 2006 concerning the implementation of a programme of support for the European audiovisual sector (MEDIA 2007) was published Friday, November 24, and went into effect the day after its publication.
In keeping with the MEDIA I, MEDIA II, MEDIA Plus and MEDIA Training programmes, MEDIA 2007 will continue offering EU support to the audiovisual sector for a period of seven years, from January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2013.
With a total budget of €754 950 000, the new programme will finance projects fulfilling the specific requirements set in areas of acquisition and improvement of skills in the audiovisual field; development; distribution, dissemination and promotion. MEDIA 2007 will also support pilot projects to ensure that it adapts to market developments, with a particular emphasis on the introduction and utilisation of information and communication technologies.
