(Thelma Film), a sentimental drama starring young French actress Isild Le Besco.

Winner of the 2005 Swiss Film Prize with Accordion Tribe, Stefan Schwietert will be presenting Heimatklänge (Maximage Filmproduction), his new musical documentary about that most primal of instruments: the human voice.

Other films selected include Chrigu (Xefilms), which Jan Gassmann is dedicating to the film’s co-director Christian Ziörjen, who died from a brain tumour during filming. A minority co-production from Basel outfit Cineworx, Madonnen by German director Maria Speth completes the Swiss presence in the Berlinale Forum.

While awaiting for the full programme to be unveiled, mention can be made of actor Nils Althaus (see interview), who was brought to public acclaim for his first big screen role in Mike Eschmann’s Breakout, has been chosen to represent Switzerland at what will be the 10th Shooting Stars (February 10-12).
