The Wild Soccer Bunch 4 – released last Thursday by Buena Vista – confirms the success of Joachim Masannek’s three previous football adventures of the young team.

According to kino-zeit figures, more than 650,000 of a total 2m cinemagoers went to see the film this weekend, beating the same-day released Saw (300,000 admissions) (dist. Kinowelt) and The Pursuit of Happyness (170,000) by Italy’s Gabriele Muccino, released on January 18 by Sony, to a top spot at the box office.

This result – which represents an average of 900 admissions per screen – makes The Wild Soccer Bunch 4 the fifth most successful February release in the history of German cinema. It also beats the record of its predecessor, The Wild Soccer Bunch 3, and is the most successful release ever for a German children’s film.
