Still untitled, the film will be co-written by Anthony Zaccaro and John Frey. Based on the idea of a labyrinth, it will interweave several stories from Lisbon and the editing is expected to reflect the multifaceted universe of contemporary urban life.

"Following my last movie, The Collection, which I shot in New York entirely on digital, I thought it would be interesting to now shoot in Lisbon, with a cast that includes some of my regular actors as well some Portuguese actors", said the director, who divides his time and work between Lisbon and New York, where he has been living since 1985.

The film will be produced by EGEAC, BA Filmes (Lisbon) and by the director's production outfit, Arco Films (New York).

Almeida's short film The Debt won an award at Cannes in 1993. His feature debut, On the Run (1999), was released theatrically in the US, France and Portugal and was show at several international festivals.

Since then, de Almeida’s work has included feature films and documentaries such as The Art of Amália, The Candidate Vieira and Homeostética 6=0, on the legendary Portuguese group of artists from the 1980s, due to be released in autumn 2007.
