walked away with the first ever Audience Award at the fifth edition of the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival (February 16-25).

Brendan McCaul, vice president and general manager of Buena Vista International Ireland, who are releasing the film, says he was not surprised about the award, adding: “This charming Irish movie continues to delight audiences all over the world and it is indeed fitting that it gets deserved recognition in its country of origin and on its home turf at JDIFF.”

Winner of the World Cinema Audience Award for a dramatic film at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, the JDIFF opening film was furthermore picked up by NonStop Entertainment at the recent Berlinale for the Stockholm-based company’s Scandinavian and Baltic distribution outfits (see article).

On winning this prize for his love story about two young, aspiring musicians whose relationship blossoms over the course of several intense days as they write and record music for a demo tape, Carney said: "I'm delighted that our film, which was shot on the streets of Dublin, and was in many ways an attempt to portray a slice of Dublin life, has been acknowledged in it's home town. I hope it goes some way to encouraging young directors to hit the streets with their cameras and shoot their own stories in their own way”.
