- "La Petite Reine" continues its ascent. Coming attractions include Fantomas and the life story of mobster Mesrine

After Blueberry, fledgling French production house La Petite Reine is back with a Euros 40 million film about a notorious Gallic gangster called Jacques Mesrine. Produced by Thomas Langmann (son of film director Claud Berri), the as-yet untitled film stars Vincent Cassel. This film will contribute to consolidating La Petite Reine’s reputation for entrepreneurial audacity.
The company’s feature debut, the Euros 25 million –budgeted Le boulet, was seen by over 3 million filmgoers. In the meantime Jan Kounen just wrapped Petite Reine’s second feature, the live action Blueberry, based on the celebrated cartoon series and starring Vincent Cassel and Juliette Lewis, after a 20-week shoot on location in Mexico, France, Spain and Great Britain. Jointly produced by Ajoz and UGC, Blueberry promises to be one of France’s tent pole releases in 2003. La Petite Reine has a further ten features in development that include Fantomas starring Jean Reno that is scheduled to go into production next summer.
