by

BBC Films are partnering up with award-winning UK filmmaker Sam Mendes (American Beauty) and DreamWorks to make Revolutionary Road, based on the celebrated 1961 debut novel by US writer Richard Yates.

With a total of eight Oscar nominations between them, British actress Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio are set to reunite for the first time since Titanic in this heart-rending story about a young couple whose marriage and dreams slowly erode under pressures to conform from which they cannot escape.

“This is an extraordinary story with wide international appeal and resonance. To be working with such outstanding talent from both sides of the Atlantic is particularly exciting, and is very much in line with our strategy of attracting world class talent to BBC Films’ projects as well as giving opportunities to new talent”, said David Thompson, head of BBC Films.

Revolutionary Road will be produced by Mendes' London-based Neal Street Productions, BBC Films, and Evamere Films.

Production will start this summer in the US and Paramount will handle worldwide distribution.
