Senator buys Central Film

Senator Entertainment AG, which held a 51% share of the distribution company Central Filmvertriebs GmbH, has now bought out the outfit, thereby extending its distribution activities, which it will conduct under the names of Senator or Central Film Verleih.

In addition to this new acquisition, the group already owns seven branches carrying the Senator name, as well as four UK outfits, among which London-based Amberlon Pictures.

Senator Entertainment AG currently holds a 31% share of X Verleih and is a majority shareholder of Mr. Brown Entertainment Filmproduction (51%), as well as of X-Filme Creative Pool (56%).

The group has a remaining 10 productions to release in 2007. Total annual releases – which have seen a steady rise – now stand at 30 titles.

Upcoming film releases by Central Film Verleih include Douglas Mackinnon’s The Flying Scotsman, a UK/German (Zero Südwest) co-production, and US titles Breach, Clerks II, School for Scoundrels and Shut Up and Sing.
