Salvatores and Ammaniti together again

Oscar winner Gabriele Salvatores chose Cannes to announce his next project, based on the latest novel by Niccolò Ammaniti, Come Dio comanda, and produced by Maurizio Totti’s Colorado Film with RAI Cinema. This is the second time that the director and writer are working together, after I’m Not Scared [+see also:

'We should be able to start shooting by the end of the year,” said the director and producer, “because the story’s atmosphere requires a winter setting, that is nocturnal, rainy or snowy. And also because we’re still working on various casting possibilities”.

The fill will focus on the a loving, powerful and intense relationship between a father and son, which Salvatores promises will be "a very tense story, almost a thriller".

The expected budget of Come Dio Comanda (lit. “God Willing”) is approximately €4m, but that could rise depending on the actors chosen.

For RAI Cinema, the film represents the first project of a three-picture deal struck with Salvatores. The second film could be Un solo mondo, on which the director has been working for over a year with possible US partners.
