Three Polish films, new productions by Xawery Żuławski, Michał Rosa and Konrad Niewolski, are part of the Tous les cinémas du monde section at the Cannes Film Festival, a showcase for “unknown” films from India, Lebanon, Africa, Colombia and Slovenia.

While Żuławski paints a lavish portrait of a generation of thirtysomethings, "naughty children" who either by choice or necessity find themselves excluded from society, Rosa goes for a more intimate approach with his story of average people in need a modest sum of money to save their dignity.

by Niewolski (produced by Studio Filmowe Zebra, Telewizja Polska, Canal + Polska) – has nothing in common with the former two and is a dark thriller on a policeman (Andrzej Chyra) searching for a murderer.

The crime story forms the main part of the film but as the story gradually advances a second layer is revealed to audiences – the policeman’s thoughts and feelings. In this film, it is up to the audience to distinguish reality from fantasy.
