TRAINING Poland

Competition for entrepreneurs

by

July 13 has been set as the closing date for Polish entries to the British Council International Young Film Entrepreneur of the Year competition.

The competition is aimed at young entrepreneurs in the film industry and will give participants the possibility to develop and hone their professional skills and to compare them with those of their British counterparts. The closing date for applications is different according to country but all competition winners will be invited to the international final, which will take place in October as part of a ten-day visit to the UK.

The stay will include meetings with British film industry professionals, film screenings and other events, as well as special participation at the Times BFI London Film Festival, at which the young entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to promote their work and the film industry of their respective countries.

But for the winner, the London stay is not the only advantage of taking part in the competition. The main prize up for grabs is worth £7,500 (€11,000), a sum that the winner is free to spend as he wishes as long as it is for professional purposes. The winner will be invited to present his proposal for use of the prize to the local British Council office, which will support the project.

Among the many participation criteria are all kinds of professional activity in cinema, such as development, production, post-production, distribution, sales, organisation, programming and exhibition management, meetings, film festivals, film journalism, publishing, film marketing, websites, film promotion and education. Participants should also be aged between 25 and 35 and speak fluent English.
