Foreign press awards quality cinema

"I dream of a cinema not made only of money," said an inspired Raul Bova while receiving a Golden Globe for his performance in a small but beautiful film, Io, l'altro, which also marked his first producing turn. Tunisian writer Mohsen Melliti who made his directorial debut with the film commented ironically on the difficulties he came across: "It’s easier to believe in God, for an atheist like me, than to make a film in Italy!"

The awards assigned each year by the foreign press were distributed with a certain equity and originality to an Italian cinema that proved itself to be particularly alive in the recently ended season.
