BERLINALE 2008 Market

Last call for Co-production Market

by

The Berlinale Co-production Market is inviting producers who wish to participate in its fifth edition to submit their new feature projects before November 1.

Supported since 2004 by MDM (Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung) and since 2005 by the EU's MEDIA Programme, the market offers producers the opportunity to meet potential partners (co-producers, financiers, distributors).

"We provide a kind of ‘home’ for producers and financial backers during the festival – and as we all know, many of the best babies are conceived at home," pointed out Festival Director Dieter Kosslick.

The Co-production Market, which brings together 450 participants in total, has shown a good track record at previous editions. Sonja Heinen, who manages the event, states with pride that in the last month alone two market films were presented to the public (including one at Toronto).

Producers have only 10 more days to submit projects with budgets of between €2m and €10m (bar exceptions), for which at least 30% of financing should already have been secured.

Application criteria and forms are available on the Berlinale website.
