TFM to distribute Tavernier, Salomé and Mouret titles

The film arm of television broadcaster TF1, TFM is bringing to the big screen new films by Bertrand Tavernier, Emmanuel Mouret, Jean-Paul Salomé and Woody Allen (Cassandra’s Dream [+see also:

, out October 31), Philippe Harel’s comedy Les Randonneurs à Saint-Tropez (out April 9, starring Karin Viard, Benoît Poelvoorde, Géraldine Pailhas and Vincent Elbaz) and Eric Besnard’s Cash [+see also:

Tavernier’s much anticipated In the Electric Mist will open in cinemas on March 26 after an expected appearance at February’s Berlinale. Shot in English and based on James Lee Burke’s novel of the same name, the film stars Tommy Lee Jones, John Goodman, Peter Sarsgaard and Mary Steenburgen.

The feature – filmed in Louisiana last spring – centres on detective Dave Robicheaux’s hunt for a serial killer who murdered a young woman. His investigation is aided by an account from one of the eyewitnesses – a Hollywood star making a film in the region – who informs Robicheaux about his discovery of the dead body of a chained man in a local swamp.

Produced by Frédéric Bourboulon for France’s Little Bear with US outfit Ithaca Pictures, In the Electric Mist was jointly produced by TF1 International, who is handling world sales.

TFM will help Mouret achieve further fame with the December 12 release of Shall We Kiss? [+see also:

(see article), with its all-European cast, featuring France’s Sophie Marceau and Julie Depardieu, Belgian actresses Marie Gillain and Déborah François, German actor Moritz Bleibtreu and Italy’s Maya Sansa, to lure droves of filmgoers when it hits screens on March 5, 2008.
