Published in mid-October by Gallimard, the book is garnering great success in France as well, and Labadie, just two months after being ousted from his position as director general of Bac Films (see article), decided that the talented Garrone would be one of the first filmmakers on the slate of his new company, which handles film, television and video distribution; international sales; and co-productions.
Gomorra, which may be selected for Berlin (Garrone was in competition at the 2004 Berlinale with First Love ), is in good company. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Le Pacte already has six titles in its line-up, including Jim Jarmusch’s The Limit of Control and La Belle Personne by Christophe Honoré, and aims to distribute 12-15 films annually as of 2009.
