The film, which also stars Blanca Portillo (Volver) and Lluís Homar (Bad Education [+see also:
film profile]), is not, however, the director’s previously announced adaptation of Thierry's Jonquet's novel Mygale (working title La piel que habito).
For the time being, Almodóvar has decided to put aside the script of a plastic surgeon who takes revenge on his son's death to focus on what is said to be a 1950s-style noir film. Not many other details have been disclosed about the story that, according to the filmmaker, "is not going to be a comedy, although it will have some comical undertones."
Los abrazos rotos will be produced by the director’s long-time producer, his brother Agustín, for El Deseo.
