film profile] by established Icelandic filmmaker/producer Olaf de Fleur Johannesson will have its world premiere in the Panorama section of the Berlin Film Festival (February 7-17).
Johannesson won the Best Documentary Award in his native country for Shining Star in 2004 and for Africa United in 2005. The Amazing Truth, a cross between a documentary feature and a fiction, tells the story of Raquela, a Filipino transsexual who decides to travel to Paris to find her “prince charming”.
The film was produced by Johannesson’s Poppoli Pictures with Baltasar Kormákur’s Blue Eyes Productions and Denmark’s Nimbus Film, with support from the Icelandic Film Centre, Nordisk Film & TV Fond, Danish broadcaster DR and TV2 Norway.
