EuropaCorp counting on Kraus’ 4 Minutes
by Fabien Lemercier
Winner of the 2007 Lola Award for Best Film and the Best Actress Award for Monica Bleibtreu, as well as numerous prizes at international festivals, German feature 4 Minutes [+see also:
film profile] by Chris Kraus (see interview) is today being released in France on 78 screens, distributed by EuropaCorp.
It will be interesting to see how the film fares, given its immense success at the domestic box office (see interview with producers Meike and Alexandra Kordes).
Another European film hitting screens is the highly original Body Rice [+see also:
film profile] by Berlin-based Portuguese director Hugo Vieira da Silva (see interview), which is being released by Alma Film on 5 screens.
Alongside four US productions, including 1408 by Swedish director Mikaël Hafstrom (TFM Distribution), and two Chinese films that include the 2007 Venice Golden Lion Winner (Ang Lee’s Lust, Caution – UGC Distribution), French cinema also makes an appearance with two impressive titles.
Bac Films are releasing on 193 screens the French/German/Belgian co-production Survivre avec les loups [+see also:
film profile] (“Survive With Wolves”, see news) by Vera Belmont; and Gaumont are launching on 480 screens the comedy A Widow at Last [+see also:
film profile] by Isabelle Mergault (You Are So Beautiful [+see also:
film profile]), starring Michèle Laroque and Jacques Gamblin.
