BERLINALE 2008 Industry

18 projects for the European Producers Club

by

Eighteen film projects from 12 different countries feature in the line-up for the Co-production Forum, organised tomorrow in Berlin by the European Producers Club (EPC).

Filmmakers looking for production partners include Finnish directors Renny Harlin and Aku Louhimies, and Polish filmmaker Agniezka Holland.

The Club - presided by Jean Cazès and headed by Alexandra Lebret - has decided to pursue its new "tailor-made" strategy initiated at the latest Cannes festival. Having realised that producers sought more targeted meetings that were more worthwhile and would have a positive impact on their projects, the Club now effectively plays the role of agent both before and after the Forums.

The aim is to provide detailed information to industry professionals about the selected projects, ahead of the forums. The Club thus hopes to introduce participants to possible co-production partners from the countries that interest them most, and actively follow the progress of negotiations begun during the course of the year following the Forum.
