Zentropa backs experimental films

by

Danish powerhouse Zentropa Entertainment has set up a new film production fund, Brilleabe Fonden (literally, Four-Eyes Fund), to support experimental films.

The new fund has an annual budget of DKK 5-6 million (€671,000-€805,000) and support decisions will be taken directly by filmmaker Lars von Trier. In a press release, Zentropa’s co-managing director Peter Aalbæk Jensen said that the aim of the fund is to “ensure the survival of elitist cinema in a world where TV stations and film institutes are increasingly profit-oriented and audience-aware.”
