Critic's Week in Venice

Seven films will participate in the Venice International Film Festival's 17th Critics' Week. In addition, the films will compete for the CNI Cult Network Italia prize of 10,000 Euro which will be awarded by an international jury as well as the "Leone del Futuro - Luigi de Laurentiis» award, - which is the prize for a first work and is worth 100,000 Euro.

The special events planned for the week include an homage to Cesare Zavattini on the 100th anniversary of his birth with a roundtable discussion and a showing of the first screen adaptation of his work, Darò un Milione made by Mario Camerini. John Cassavetes' first film, Shadows , restored by the University of Los Angeles (UCLA) will also be presented. Nick Cassavetes, the filmmaker's son who is also a director, will attend. Guests will include Phillippe Noiret, Campbell Scott, Isabella Rossellini, Elizabeth Berkley and Jennifer Beals.
