Film i Väst discusses French and Irish connections

by

Some 60 Swedish producers from 25 production companies will tomorrow and Thursday take part in a seminar on co-producing with France and Ireland, in the city of Uddevalla, Western Sweden.

Simon Perry, head of the Film Board will be on hand, as well as veteran French producer Jean-Luc Ormières (OF2B).

Two case studies will illustrate the tight relationships that Film i Väst, the leading Swedish regional film Fund, has been establishing over the last couple of years with international partners. This year’s Irish Producer on the Move Macdara Kelleher will present Kisses, directed by Lance Daly, which shot one week at Film i Väst’s Trollhättan studios; and French producer Olivier Guerpillon, who is based in Stockholm, will introduce the French/Swedish co-production Les Grandes personnes by Anna Novion, set to open in September in France through Memento Films.

, co-produced by Guerpillon’s Dfm Fiktion, and the Irish film Summer of the Flying Saucer by Martin Duffy, which will have its world premiere tomorrow April 23 at Dublin’s Cinemagic Film Festival.

“Our goal is to strengthen Swedish production companies’ abilities to work internationally,” said Tomas Eskilsson, head of Film i Väst. “The focus of the seminar is on France and Ireland as we have experience in co-producing with those countries, and we are very keen to pass on this experience to our collaborators.”

The two-day seminar is co-organised with ACE (Ateliers du Cinéma Européen).
