Little Girl Blue wins Finale

at the closing ceremony of the 21st Finale festival on April 26 in Plzen, Czech Republic.

The Czech/Slovak co-production, which stars Iva Bittova as a middle-aged woman facing a day full of difficult decisions, is produced by Jan Sverak. Portobello Pictures has international sales rights.

Citizen Havel received the top award in the documentary competition. Directed by Pavel Koutecky, who died before the film was completed, and Miroslav Janek, the film presents behind-the-scenes footage from the life of former Czech president Vaclav Havel. Deckert Distribution is handling world sales.

The festival's Audience Award went to Tomas Barina's comedy Bobule, while a popular poll for Best Performance awarded Ivan Trojan for his role in Jiri Vejdelek's Vaclav.

The Czech Film Centre hosted its annual festival presentation of upcoming feature films and projects in development. Twenty new Czech features have theatrical premieres scheduled during the remainder of 2008.

The 21st Finale had more than 16,000 admissions, a growth of over 3,000 over the previous year. Twelve Czech features vied for the main prize, with an additional seven films opting out of the competition. The documentary competition saw 35 films of various lengths.
