Wild Bunch sets sights on Cannes

With four features in official competition at the 61st Cannes Film Festival (May 14-25), French international sales company Wild Bunch is shaping up to be one of the major players at the Film Market.

In the Un Certain Regard section, Wild Bunch will present two films: Tyson by James Toback and Tokyo by Bong Joon-ho, Michel Gondry and Leos Carax.

Wild Bunch will also get sales underway for Gaspard Noé’s Enter the Void (pre-bought for France, Italy and Scandinavia) on the strength of a teaser pitch and screenplay; Ken Loach’s as yet untitled forthcoming film, which will start shooting next year; Radu Mihaileanu’s Concert (in production); and Laurent Tirard’s adaptation of the cartoon Le Petit Nicolas.

Other projects on the line-up include The Woody Allen Summer Project 2008, a new animated film by Hayao Miyazaki (set to be released in Japan in July) and Lou Ye’s Spring Fever.

Wild Bunch will also present a generous selection of promotional reels, including for Jaco van Dormael’s Mr. Nobody, Jérôme Salle’s Largo Winch, Gilles BourdosAfterwards, Fabrice du Weltz’s Vinyan, Claire DenisWhite Material and Bodhan Slama’s The Country Teacher. Further titles include Jukka-Pekka Valkeapaa’s The Visitor, Spanish film Camino by Javier Fesser, and Darren Arafnofsky’s The Wrestler.

Films in post-production include Marina de Van’s Ne te retourne pas (“Don’t Look Back”) and Bruno PodalydesBancs publics (“Public Stands”).

Market premiere screenings will include Agnès Merlet’s Dorothy Mills (starring Carice Van Houten), Philippe Muyl’s Magic, Pascal Laugier’s Martyr, Howard McCain’s Outlander, and the comical UK documentary A Complete History of My Sexual Failures.
