I had seen Autumn Ball and thought it had a really interesting twist. We read the script of The Temptation and just loved the project.”

Õunpuu’s new film, based on his own original screenplay, will draw inspiration from the legend of Saint Anthony, using a contemporary setting and storyline to reflect on goodness: Can someone become a saint today and be sincerely and selflessly good?

Estonian actor Taavi Eelmaa, who plays the unforgettable coatroom attendant in Autumn Ball, will take the lead in The Temptation. Principal photography will take place between September 20-November 10, and the Finnish premiere is set for September 10, 2009.

The €983,080 project won the MEDIA European Talent Award at the last Cannes Film Festival and was just awarded €80,000 in production support from the Finnish Film Foundation.

Autumn Ball started its world festival tour with Venice last year, where it won the Horizons section. It went on win the Golden Star Award for Best Film in Marrakesh last December and the Golden Moon at the 23rd Cinema Jove International Film Fest in Valencia, Spain last weekend.

So far, the film has been acquired by Civite Films (Spain), Atalanta Films (Portugal), Mokum Film Distribution (Netherlands) and Skalvijos Kino Centras (Lithuania).
