Eight young European talents at Angers Workshops

Spain, the UK, Switzerland, Belgium and France will be represented this year at the Angers Workshops, whose fourth edition kicks off tomorrow.

Initiated and led by Jeanne Moreau with the support of the organisers of the Premiers Plans Film Festival, the Angers residency will host eight promising young directors preparing their debut narrative features. Until July 10, they will receive the advice and teaching of experienced professionals.

Workshop leaders include Israeli director Amos Gitaï and his composer Simon Stockhausen, as well as director Jacques Doillon, his DoP Hélène Louvart and actress Clémentine Beaugrand. Also attending the event will be Noémie Lvovsky (accompanied by her editor Michel Klochendler), Sandrine Veysset, Céline Sciamma (with her casting director Christelle Baras) and Laurence Ferreira Barbosa (accompanied by her producer Paulo Branco).

Paul Englebert (HD post-production specialist), Dominique Besnehard (producer), Farid Chaouche (executive producer) and Alain Besse (Advanced Technical Image and Sound Commission) will also be present.

The eight directors selected for this edition include Spain’s Celia Galan Julve (project: Rosa Guzman está viva), the UK’s Peter Mackie Burns (White Male Heart, produced in association with Brocken Spectre), Switzerland’s Germinal Roaux (La durée d’un instant - CAB Productions), Belgium’s François Pirot (Mobil-Home - Ekletik) and France’s Antoine Barraud (Le Traversier - Château-rouge Productions) , Héléna Klotz (Le festin des chiens - Les Productions Bagheera), Paul Saintillan (Crénom ! - Ecce Films) and Rebecca Zlotowski (Belle-Epine - Les Films Velvet).
