Filmland Polen: Polish films in Germany

by

German audiences are invited to discover new Polish titles at the 6th Filmland Polen, which is currently hosting a special programme for young viewers: the first edition of a mini-festival of animated films.

For the past 11 years, Filmland Polen has been promoting Polish films in Germany. The programme continues throughout the year with a series of monthly screenings in different cities in Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein, as well as Hamburg and Bremen.

From March-December, the organisers offer cinemagoers the chance to see the best of Polish production, from features to shorts, as well as documentaries and animated films. The screenings – which are often attended by the directors and their teams – include meetings with audiences and conferences led by experts in the field.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Polish animated film, Filmland Polen has planned three special events. The first mini-festival of animated film will be followed in September by a retrospective (organised in cooperation with the New Horizons association) dedicated to Alexander Sroczynski, one of the most renowned Polish animated film directors. Finally, the Anthology of Polish Animated Film will be unveiled in October as part of the Polish Days in Bremen.

The 2008 FILMLAND POLEN festival is organised by Deutsch-Polnisches FilmForum e.V. Hannover, with sponsorship from the Polish Embassy in Berlin, the Polish General Consulate in Hamburg and the PISF (Polish Film Institute).
