Three Seasons In Hell preps in Prague

Prague-based Dawson Productions is preparing to begin production on Three Seasons In Hell, a co-production between the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany.

Photography on the EUR 3m project is scheduled to begin August 22 on location in Prague and conclude November 17.

The film is directed by Tomas Masin from his own script, adapted from a story by Lubomír Drozd, which was in turn inspired by the memoirs of Czech literary icon Egon Bondy. Icelandic cinematographer Karl Oskarsson will serve as DP.

Krystof Hadek (Dark Blue World) plays Ivan, young poet in post-war Czechoslovakia. As increasingly authoritarian government measures threaten their hedonistic lifestyle, Ivan and his lover Jana plan an escape to Paris.

Monika Kristlova produces for Dawson Productions, with Trigon Productions of Slovakia and Babelsberg Film of Germany serving as co-producers.

The film is supported by Ceska televize, UPP, Soundsquare, MEDIA, Eurimages, the Slovak Ministry of Culture and the State Fund for Support and Development of Czech Cinematography.

Falcon will distribute the film in the Czech Republic, Capitol in Slovakia, with a release in late October 2009. The producers are in discussions with Polish and German distributors.
