Broccoli joins UKFC board

Culture Minister Margaret Hodge has appointed James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli to the board of the UK Film Council (UKFC).

The appointment is for four years, starting August 4 with Broccoli attending her first board meeting in September.

Broccoli began her association with James Bond as an assistant director on Octopussy and A View To A Kill. She then served as associate producer on The Living Daylights and License To Kill. Along with her brother Michael G Wilson, she then served as producer on GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World is Not Enough, Die Another Day and the most successful Bond ever, Casino Royale [+see also:

. She is currently producing the latest Bond film Quantum Of Solace.

UKFC Chairman Stewart Till said, “I’m absolutely delighted that Barbara is joining the team. She’s produced some of the most successful films in the world and her understanding of how big budget British films get financed out of Hollywood is extensive and unique. Barbara will be an enormous asset for the UK Film Council in our efforts to attract inward investment into the UK film production sector.”

For the last four years, Barbara Broccoli was Chair of First Light Movies, an organisation that provides funding and expertise to enable five to 19-year-olds throughout the UK to create digital short films. It receives £1.1 million of funding per year from the UKFC.
