Schweiger preparing sequel to Rabbit Without Ears

German publication Bild has announced that actor-director Til Schweiger intends to make a sequel to Rabbit Without Ears [+see also:

Produced by Schweiger and Thomas Zickler for their Cologne-based company Barefoot Films, the first film told the story of a tabloid reporter (played by the director) who is sentenced to community service in a nursery school where one of the teachers turns out to be his former classmate and underdog Anna (Nora Tschirner).

Rabbit Without Ears enjoyed astounding success and became the best-performing film in the history of German cinema. Viewers (over 6m in total) flocked to theatres as soon as the title was launched by Warner on December 20, 2007. The DVD is being released today on 1.2 million copies.

Rabbit Without Ears 2 will have the same cast as its predecessor and is set to hit German screens in December 2009.
