Country Wedding draws Icelandic crowds

Iceland’s acclaimed editor Valdis Óskarsdóttir, winner of a Bafta award for her editing of Michael Gondry’s Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, has successfully entered the Iceland charts last weekend with her feature film debut Country Wedding [+see also:

The comedy opened for a third place at the domestic Top Ten, with over 2,600 admissions from six screens for Samfilm. Co-written by Óskarsdóttir with actors from the Vesturport theatre group such as Björn Hlynur Haradsson (Eleven Men Out), Gisli Orn Gardarsson (Children), and Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir (Jar City [+see also:

), Country Wedding is a road movie revolving around two busloads of Icelanders attending a wedding in a small church outside of Reykjavik.

, is attached to the film, produced by Duo Productions, Mystery Island, AVE, and White River Productions. The film will have its world premiere tomorrow, Thursday 4, at Toronto’s Contemporary World Cinema. International sales are handled by Fortissimo Film Sales.
