L’autre moitié wins Pariscope praise

by

The essential guide to entertainment in the French capital, Pariscope, has chosen a Swiss feature as its favourite film. Rolando Colla’s L’autre moitié (“The Other Half”), which opened on two screens in Paris last week, has been awarded a surprising 4 out of 4 stars by the guide, as well as winning praises from its critic Arno Gaillard, who says of the film: "The film, modest by its budget, offers a magnificent performance by its actors, Abel Jafri and Kader Boukhanef. At the core of this intense and dramatic thriller, they play with a rare truth two brothers who watch and confront one another. Brotherhood, Islam and integration, women who wait for men who don’t return – Colla films all of these with genius and striking humanity. L’autre moitié is one of the most beautiful films to have been released in recent years."

Both actors have already picked up a Best Actor Award at the 2007 Amiens International Film Festival and the film’s French distributor Cinéma Public Films was granted export funding of €10,000 by Swiss Films and the Swiss Federal Office for Culture.

L’autre moitié was released August 27 at Paris’ Espace St. Michel and Archipel cinemas and is due to open soon at the Magic in Bobigny, Suresnes, Versailles, Saint-Denis, Châtenay Malabry, Tours and other cinemas.
