Bellucci opens Rome again, Vicari in competition

Maria Sole Tognazzi’s L’uomo che ama, starring Monica Bellucci, Pierfrancesco Favino, Ksenia Rappoport and Piera Degli Esposti, will open the third edition of the Rome International Film Festival (October 22-31).

The closing night film, following the awards ceremony, will be L’ultimo Pulcinella, featuring Massimo Ranieri, which Maurizio Scaparro adapted from his renowned play, inspired by an idea of Roberto Rossellini.

There will be world premieres of two Italian films, announced today by event organisers, as well another domestic title, in competition in the Première sidebar: Daniele Vicari’s Il passato è una terra straniera (“The Past is a Foreign Land”), with Elio Germano, Valentina Lodovini and Chiara Caselli.

On opening day, in collaboration with the United Nations, the festival will also present an international film against world poverty, Huit/ Eight, directed by eight renowned filmmakers: Jane Campion, Gael García Bernal, Jan Kounen, Mira Nair, Gaspar Noé, Abderrahmane Sissako, Gus Van Sant and Wim Wenders.
