In the second round, 78 proposals were chosen from different fields (co-production, development, distribution and training) and will share a total amount of $3.2m. This series of projects completes the first selection announced in July 2008 (see news).

As usual, the largest part of the funding was earmarked for co-productions and 27 projects were selected, including 11 with Spanish partners.

Four of the chosen works were presented by Spanish companies. These are 9 meses y 4 Díaz (“9 Months and 4 Days”, produced by De Palacio Films in co-production with Venezuela); Brujerías (“Witchcraft”, Continental Producciones in co-production with Portugal’s Zeppelin Filmes); Vida sobre ruedas (“Life on Wheels”, Elegant Mob Films in co-production with Portugal’s Real Ficção); and El corredor nocturno (“The Night Runner”, Tornasol Films in co-production with Argentina and Uruguay - see news).

The remaining seven projects with Spanish partners were presented by other countries. These include the Argentinean film La mala verdad (“The Bad Truth”) and Chilean title Isla 10 (“Island 10”), which are co-produced by Aquelarre; Colombian works La hora de los traidores (“The Hour of the Traitors”, co-produced by Sixaola Prod/World Wide) and La sociedad del semáforo (“Traffic-lights Society”, co-produced by El Baile Films); Costa Rican film Agua fría de mar (“Cold Seawater”, co-produced by Tic Tac Producciones); Ecuadorean title Bienvenido a tu familia (“Welcome to Your Family”, co-produced by Lastor Media and TVC); and Mexico’s La 4ª compañía (“The 4th Company”, co-produced by Oberón Cinematográfica).

In the other fields, Ibermedia granted funding to 51 projects: 38 in development (including four Spanish); six in international sales and delivery (including two Spanish); and seven training projects (including two Spanish).
