Two nominations for I’ve Loved You So Long

, continues its winning streak. Unveiled in competition at the Berlinale, the film – which last Saturday earned UK actress Kristin Scott-Thomas the Best Actress title at the European Film Awards – yesterday received two nominations for the Golden Globes 2009.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association selected I’ve Loved You So Long among the five contenders set to vie for the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film. Meanwhile, the UK actress has been nominated in the category of Best Actress in a Drama (alongside Meryl Streep, Kate Winslet, Anne Hathaway, and Angelina Jolie).

Also starring Elsa Zylberstein, Serge Hazanavicius and Laurent Grevill, I’ve Loved You So Long was produced by Yves Marmion for UGC YM in co-production with France 3 Cinéma and Germany’s Integral Film (20% investment). The title also received backing from Canal +, TPS and Eurimages.

Sold and distributed internationally by UGC, the feature garnered 986,000 admissions in France and has enjoyed success in Europe, where it has so far been released in the Netherlands, Spain, the UK and Germany, among other countries.

There is another French co-production on the shortlist of nominees for the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film: Ari Folman’s Waltz with Bashir [+see also:

. Unveiled in competition at the Cannes Film Festival in May, the feature – co-produced with Israel and Germany – was produced on the French side by Les Films d'Ici with backing from Arte France.

The film was launched to success in France (465,000 admissions) by Le Pacte, who also released another box office hit and nominee for the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film: Matteo Garrone’s Italian title Gomorrah [+see also:

Finally, at the 66th Golden Globes, France is also represented by outstanding composer Alexandre Desplat. Nominated in 2004 and 2006 and winner of the Golden Globe 2008, Desplat will be hoping to keep his title this year for his work on US director David Fincher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
