Natale a Rio and Madagascar 2 top holiday films

It’s head to head for Madagascar 2 (distributed by Universal) and local Christmas title Natale a Rio (Filmauro). According to Cinetel data, the animated film by DreamWorks is at the top of the charts this first weekend of 2009, with over €2.8m (and nearly €21.5m in three weeks), while Neri Parenti’s Natale a Rio, starring Christian De Sica, is in second place with over €2.7m (and over €22m in three weeks).

Although Parenti’s film is the most-seen film of the holiday period, Madagascar 2 could win the overall competition tomorrow, on the holiday of the Epiphany, traditionally dedicated to children.
