Medem preparing for Rome

by

Filming will start on January 26 on Basque director Julio Medem’s eighth feature, Room in Rome. The four-week shoot will take place in Madrid and Rome. Made on a rather modest budget, the film will, according to Medem, be “the simplest I’ve ever made".

Produced by Morena Films and Alicia Produce, Room in Rome will also be the director’s first entirely English-language film. It is the first of two English-language works (the other being Pericles and Aspasia) planned with producer Álvaro Longoria.

French company Wild Bunch will handle international sales for both titles.

The story – loosely based on Matías Bize’s Chilean film In Bed (2006) – centres on two women. Spaniard Alba (Elena Anaya) and Russian Natasha (Natasha Yarovenko) meet in a hotel in the Italian capital and get deeply involved in a physical relationship that touches their soul.
