Warner Bros’ Berger joins UKFC board

Minister of Culture Barbara Follett has announced that Josh Berger, President and Managing Director of Warner Bros. Entertainment UK Ltd (WBEUK), has been appointed to the UK Film Council’s (UKFC) Board of Directors. The appointment will run for four years from 20 January 2009.

Berger brings to the board over 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry. He is responsible for all of WBEUK’s business activities in the United Kingdom and Ireland, including overseeing Warner Bros. Pictures, Home Video, and Television & Digital Distribution. He is a member of the BAFTA and the British Screen Advisory Council and an associate to the International Council of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

UKFC Chairman Stewart Till said, “I’m delighted to welcome Josh Berger onto the UK Film Council Board. His impressive experience with one of the industry’s leading international studios makes him an invaluable addition. He will bring a wealth of knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of big-budget film production and worldwide distribution to the role that will strengthen our Board even further.”

Berger said, “I’m honoured to be invited to join the Board and look forward to contributing to the excellent work that the UK Film Council undertakes to promote British filmmaking at home and abroad. The industry knows that 2009 is likely to be difficult for everybody but I’m confident that we will be able to weather any challenges that arise and continue to support Britain as an important filmmaking hub on the international scene.”
