The Czech Film and Television Academy has announced the nominees for the 16th Czech Lion Awards. Of the 26 feature films eligible for nomination, three films dominate the main categories. Petr Zelenka's The Karamazovs [+see also:

Nominees for Best Actor are Pavel Liska (A Country Teacher), Karel Roden (Guard No. 47) and Ivan Trojan (The Karamazovs). Contenders for Best Actress are Zuzana Bydzovska (A Country Teacher), Anna Friel (Bathory [+see also:

film profile]) and Martha Issova (Night Owls).

The nominees for Best Documentary are Helena Trestikova's EFA Prix Arte winner René, Pavel Koutecky and Miroslav Janek's Citizen Havel [+see also:

Three films are nominated for Best Foreign Film: Joel and Ethan Coen's No Country for Old Men, Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood and Andrzej Wajda's Katyn.

The winners of the Czech Lion Awards will be announced March 7 in Prague.
