Funding – The Netherlands Support for promotion and development Rotterdam’s Film Fund- RFF has assigned its very first grant to a production called Calimucho. Directed by Eugenie Jansen and produced by Circe Films’ Stienette Bosklopper, the film was presented before an audience of investors during the Netherlands Production Platform section of the Utrecht Film Festival last weekend.
Calimucho is about an improbable love story between a Moroccan man and the daughter of a travelling circus manager and was selected over nine other projects to receive a contribution of Euros10,000 towards its Euros1.5 million budget.
Meanwhile a film called Oesters van Nam Kee by Pollo de Pimentel and released onto 88 Dutch screens on 5 September won the Golden Film award from the Dutch Film Federation and the Dutch Film Fund. This award will contribute to extending the theatrical life cycle of this film that was seen by 75,000 people so far. Produced by Egmond Film & Television and distributed by UIP, Oesters van Nam Kee is based on a novel by Kees van Beijnum about the tumultuous love story between an 18-year-old athlete and a mystery girl and is set in some of Amsterdam’s more unsavoury neighbourhoods.
