Filming is cheaper in Prague

- The “golden city”, one of Europe's most popular locations cuts licence fees for shooting in the historical centre

Prague City Council bowed to pressure from Czech and international film producers and has agreed to cut the cost of shooting films and advertisements in the historical city. Last June, the council introduced a five-fold hike in the cost of licences which shot up from Euros 0.32 to Euros 1.62 for each square meter of space occupied. The new rates are reported to be well under the Euros 0.81 per square meter-mark and are likely to be introduced early in the New Year. Known as the "Golden City", for the last ten years Prague has become one of the international film world’s favourite locations since so many of its historical streets and buildings are still intact, and there are numerous reasonably-priced quality production facilities in the area.
