Renée rejoins her Pygmalion

- Following the success of Betty Love, the actress teams up again with Neil LaBute in a new comedy co-funded by Britain's Renaissance Films

The managing director of Renaissance Films Angus Finney told Cineuropa that US director Neil LaBute is to join forces once again with American actress Renee Zellweger, following their critically acclaimed Nurse Betty.
Neil La Bute also wrote the screenplay for Vapor, a contemporary take on the Pygmalion myth that is based on the novel by Amanda Filipacchi. Renée Zellweger will play Anna Graham, a wannabee actress who falls for a character called Damon Wetley (as yet uncast), an artist who makes clouds and who will train her to become famous.
Vapor is currently in development and will be produced by Gail Mutrux (Nurse Betty, Donnie Brasco), LaBute’s business partner in their Pretty Pictures company.
Renaissance Films co-financed the development of the $17m-$18m (Euros 17-18million) film with Catch 23 Entertainment, a production and management company that recently co-funded Robin Williams’ One Hour Photo.
According to Angus Finney,Vapor will go into pre-production in the Spring 2003. Renaissance Films will oversee wordwide sales on the project.
